In January, Jim went back to USA for a couple of months, and Max sailed aboard Poppy with the Schlegels, the Danish family that we encountered in Moorea. Jim returned to Polynesia in March, meeting Max in Nuku Hiva. We sailed Akela from the Marquesas Islands to the Tuamotos, trying our hand at high seas poetry. We spent two months at the islands of Tahanea, Fakarava, and Toau.

We blew the head gasket on the diesel engine and sailed to Tahiti where we repaired the engine and left Akela anchored for a couple months while we returned to Tucson.  I am Jonesing to spend time with Laura and Max needs to take one remaining class to finish his degree.  We’ll return in September and go back to Tuamotus and then on the the big cultural festival in the Marquesas.

Check out the pictures from our adventures.
